Self Tanning Spray

Self Tanning Spray

The concept of the self tanning spray came from the original tanning booth. The tanning booth has two methods of tanning skin. One is with the use of UV rays on tanning beds, and the other is the use of a tanning spray. The use of UV rays came first in the industry but when reports came about some nasty side effects of UV rays, it was replaced with tanning sprays.

The self tanning spray has the same composition of chemicals with spray used in tanning booths. It contains DHA (Di-Hydroxy Acetone) which is the active ingredient in developing your skin’s color. It accomplishes this by staining your skin to make it look darker. The process in tanning booths (mechanically operated) allows for a very even distribution of the product onto the skin. As for the indoor tanning spray, one can achieve an even tan with it as well when used properly. The procedure for the self tanning spray is similar to the procedure of using tanning lotion. Since they are both used at home, users of the tanning lotion and tanning spray should always remember to follow the complete step by step procedure to get the same results as those seen in tanning booths and tanning salons.

When using a self tanning spray there are possible ways that the result will not be as even as expected. Areas that have thicker layer of skin (like the elbow and knees) should be sprayed with less product because the thicker the skin absorbs the active ingredients more effectively. There are also other aspects that may affect the success of the tanning procedure such as lack of patience and too much activity. The tanning spray has the fastest fading effect of all the procedures.

The fumes of the tanning spray are also hazardous to users of the tanning spray. Most tanning booths fail to succeed in their line of business because they lack ventilation in their tanning booth which results in negative side effects in customers. For indoor tanning spray, you don’t need to go and stay in a very small space and start spraying. You can do it in an open area so long as there are no children or other people around you when you are applying the tanning spray. As for yourself, you can use a protective mask during the procedure. If you want to spray some product on your face, make sure you have plastic eye protection to protect your eyes (these are sold in self care markets, and are also used in tanning booths).

Tanning spray is also highly flammable. So turn off any heat source and put out any flames when you are spraying. The first step in applying tanning spray is to clean the area where you will be conducting your spraying sessions. It is true that it is cheaper conducting self tanning but you should take extra precautions to avoid accidents and bad results in self tanning. It is safe to use self tanning products because it doesn’t unnecessarily expose your skin to UV rays, but accidents may still happen while in the process of tanning yourself.
