Self Tanning
A lot of women today engage in self tanning rather than going to a tanning shop to get it done. It is much cheaper and you don’t have to worry about leaving the tanning shop with a reddish tinge from an unfinished tanning process. It is also safer to self-tan because there are many tanning shops that use equipment and machines (with UV rays) that may cause cancer.
You don’t have to go to the beach anymore to get the perfect tan. There are now easier ways to darken your complexion. It is the simple self tanning process which anyone can easily follow:
STEP 1:
Choose the perfect type of tanning lotion for the color of your skin. If you have a fair skin color, you should pick a tanning lotion that has the lightest shade. If the color of your skin is medium, buy a tanning lotion that has a medium shade.
STEP 2:
Before applying anything to your skin, make sure you clean your skin so that the effect may be evenly spread out and to minimize negative side effects. Another reason as to why you should clean your skin is so that you can get the most natural-looking tan possible. To clean your skin, remove dead skin and shave the areas to be tanned.
STEP 3:
The third step is moisturizing. Moisturizing is of utmost importance because the skin is raw and delicate from just being scraped of dead skin and shaved. Moisturize your skin with good quality moisturizers prior to self-tanning. After several days your skin will be smoother and will absorb the tanning lotion more easily.
STEP 4:
After several days of preparing your skin, you can start applying the tanning lotion. Remember not to overdo it. Thick application of tanning lotion will result in uneven tanning. It is best done layer after layer. The application of tanning lotion in the elbow and knee area should be lighter because the skin in the elbow and knee area is thicker than other areas thus it absorbs the tanning lotion more effectively. The application of the skin lotion should be sparingly done to get an even tan and to avoid uneven spots or discolored areas.
STEP 5:
Let the tanning lotion dry for a couple of minutes. If you are into self tanning and you want to have your clothes on, make sure that the tanning lotion has dried before putting on your clothes. Stay in a place with a cool temperature. After putting on clothes, try to relax for an hour. Strenuous activities and high temperatures make you sweat and sweat may cause streaks in your newly tanned skin. After an hour of waiting, your do-it-yourself tanning job is done.
